Book review #44 : 7 Secrets Of Vishnu by Devdutt Pattanaik
Devdutt Pattanaik is a magician of words, who literally has done PHD in delivering the best mythological stories to this world. You can pick any book written by him, and will surely get the essence of ancient tales, filled with morals and motives behind everything.
Through this book - “7 Secrets of Vishnu” , he presented the forms of Vishnu incarnations and their real cause. You will find many connections of science and mythological tale reference. This book is divided into seven sections, each of them represents meaningful secrets behind stories that we use to listen to by our parents or grandparents. What I like the most is the intention of a clear picture between masculine and feminine energy. Every minute details of actions, whether done by Devas or Asuras, Nagas and Garudas, righteousness and evilness, and more, are showcased with many examples and Hindu mythological characters. You will get to know many forms of the same God throughout the geographical diversity of India. You can see many artwork, handicraft images and their visual meanings in this book, which not only help readers to relate to the narration but also give the full-fledged understanding of purpose behind Vishnu’s actions.
Few consider 10 avatars of Vishnu, few consider 22, but after reading this book, I concluded that there are more incarnations than stated in manuscripts, handled by humans. If you know Hindu mythology or have faith to know more about it, do read this book and deep dive into the reality of unknown possibilities.
