Book Review #10: "Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe" (Aristotle and Dante, #1) by Benjamin Alire Sáenz
I can't thank enough stars to make me dive into the secrets of universe, of Aristotle and Dante. This piece is simply magnificent. It's not like author has created a different world of classic romance, but he simply put the thought of being in love, a scary and yet most heartwarming feeling.
I adored many things in Benjamin's writing and this book:
* Characters. No one can portray better role than Dante and Aristotle, for the kind of mystery author was trying to reveal. Their parents were so normal parents. Just like us. No salt or pepper on the verge of care and punishments. I loved specially Mrs. Quintana. She was really a tough soul, and a cherry on the cake. And of course, Legs!
* Dreams. This big problems of society are generally forced to hide away. No one talks about it openly, how one feels when one sees a bad dream. How it chokes the tenderness of mind, its imagination, and most important, memories. Dreams play a major role in living life. Little that the author knows, he put everything, crystal and clear. He demonstrated the generation gap in the form dreams. He examined truths and lies in the form of dreams. He understood the need of solved answers, for the sake of dreams. I just relish the every flavor of his dreams in his writing.
* Writing. Author has found the secrets already, so that he simplifies everything in this book. Every reader will feel every words. It's so lucid and colorful.
* Love. Of course. What should I say. The kind of righteousness between reality and thoughts, one has to encounter while finding love, is beyond limits. Someone understand love just with a flick, and some has to swim deep in the water. It's not easy for anyone to know what you are. And that's the key, author had used to peel off each layer of pain and confusion and chaos and denial. One of the line from this book "We all fight our own private wars" is so harmonious. Nothing/No-one can ever find themselves free from wars, it's just the matter of thinking that makes us unique.
Must read for all generations, to know the secrets of life, to know the secrets of your own soul.
